Commemorating VE Day at St Piers School

Last week, we proudly marked the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe (VE) Day — a moment in history that symbolises the end of the Second World War in Europe and the beginning of peace.

To commemorate this important occasion, students across St Piers School took part in a range of themed activities designed to help them understand the significance of the day. Throughout the school, there was a strong focus on the values of peace, hope and resilience.

Our classes explored wartime history in a sensory and accessible way, creating crafts inspired by the era and engaging with music and stories that brought the past to life. The activities were designed to encourage reflection and curiosity, helping students to connect with history in a way that was meaningful and age-appropriate.

It was a memorable day filled with creativity, learning and thoughtful discussion — and a valuable opportunity to honour a pivotal moment in history with our school community.
