Making Sense of Neurodivergence is a 2.5-hour awareness-raising training session exploring neurodivergence and some of the different ways neurodivergent people may experience and understand the world.
The session looks at areas including social understanding and communication, flexibility, information processing, understanding and sensory processing and integration.
Who is the training for?
The training is suitable for anyone who works with or supports neurodivergent people, including:
- parents and carers
- teachers and learning support assistants
- school meals supervisors
- school business managers
- site and office staff
- taxi drivers and school escorts.
The session is suitable for all ages.
What will you learn?
The training will help you to:
- understand neurodivergence as a difference rather than a deficit or disorder
- recognise different areas of neurodivergence and how these can affect neurodivergent pupils
- learn from the perspectives of neurodivergent pupils and their parents and carers
- reflect on your own practice and consider reasonable adjustments that can support neurodivergent people.
The training has been developed by leading autism specialists and incorporates current research. It can contribute towards CPD, includes resources and frameworks linked to Ofsted, and offers optional certification.
